A 19-year-old NCAA national champion, Thrasher represented the U.S. in Rio and earned the country's first gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in the 10m air rifle. Thrasher defeated her veteran opponent in the finals by a full point, a wide margin in perhaps the Games' most precise sport.

For sports like shooting, there is no bigger opportunity to showcase greatness than during the Olympic Games. With a Finals performance for the ages, Thrasher set the table by winning the first golden medal of the 2016 Olympic Games. In winning the Women’s 10-meter Air Rifle event morning, the spotlight was glowing greater on the shooting sports and USA Shooting than any other time in history.
